Instructions: Lubricating your Needak Rebounder
Lubricating your rebounder periodically maximizes the longevity of your springs and dramatically reduces the sound while in use.
(Video on bottom of page)
The friction of metal rubbing on metal generates heat which shortens the life of the spring, and so keeping your springs lubricated maximizes their life. We do not recommend liquid lubricants. They tend to drip off quickly providing protection only for a day or two. Synthetic grease is the lubricant we recommend the most - second is automotive grease, and finally, petroleum jelly. Synthetic grease lasts the longest, while petroleum jelly last the shortest amount of time. Automotive grease is relatively inexpensive and is a good option if synthetic grease proves too expensive. For heavy use, apply more often, and with less use, apply less often. Sprays will not last as long but are also effective.
Needak uses "Huskey" brand synthetic grease. They utilize silicone, Teflon, and other components to provide a grease engineered for heat and pressure. You will find this grease in the replacement parts section of this web site. Finally, some squeaking is normal - generally, after some use, the steel components fit together better, and squeaking will lessen. However, some noise is expected. Here is an undoctored sound test comparing the Needak rebounder to different household noises:
